Sir Elton John recently listed his Atlanta condo for $4.995 million after three decades of ownership.

The British musician purchased the condo, which is housed within the Park Place on Peachtree condominium complex, in the early 1990s after falling in love with Atlanta. During this time, he was fresh out of rehab and found supportive recovery facilities in Atlanta, he said in a phone interview with WSJ. He loved the city so much that he used this condo as his home base for U.S. tours.

He purchased a duplex on the 36th floor in 1992 and over the next few decades purchased five more units in the building. The result of combining these six units is a massive 13,500-square-foot home in the sky. The home is configured with four bedrooms, a gym, a gallery space, a massage room, formal dining room, wood-paneled office, grand salon and a massive closet that is larger than many people’s apartments.

Listed with Chad Mizell of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty, the sprawling residence has panoramic views of Atlanta from nearly every room. Like a living art gallery, the home features high coffered white ceilings and well-lit spaces in each room that he designed to showcase his extensive photography collection. The highlight of the home is surely the two-story grand salon that is flooded with natural light thanks to a double-height wall of windows. The operatic room has a large dining area and picture-perfect skyline views. For those who love to entertain like John, there is a living room that can fit dual seating areas and a grand piano, perfect for the “Rocket Man” crooner.

The sprawling primary suite is like its own private wing and has a seating area, spa-inspired, onyx-clad bathroom and, of course, closets so spacious and grand that only someone as fabulous as John could conceptualize. The wood-paneled closet has gallery-style lighting, rows and rows of shoe storage along the walls, boutique-style clothing displays and full-length mirrors at every turn.

No room was an afterthought, and the home’s meticulous, elegant design is seen in every space, from the gym to the powder rooms and beyond. In addition to multiple seating areas and gallery spaces, there’s a wood-paneled office and living room with double-height ceilings and a full gym with walls of windows overlooking the city, so you can exercise while enjoying the views. There’s also a spa/massage room, three additional bedrooms for family or friends and a wraparound terrace.

Although you might not be hosting the same caliber of international guests John likely did, the home is built for entertaining in style. The condo comes with nine reserved parking spaces, six private storage units and five dedicated wine storage units.

While John loved the city of Atlanta, his home transcended simply being a place to live. As his photography collection grew, the residence became a gallery to showcase his personal collection of photographs from renowned photographers. In fact, the photography collection is so extensive and prestigious that museum reps have requested to visit, he told WSJ.
