President Joe Biden on Wednesday said he’s not worried that new House Speaker Mike Johnson will try to overturn the results of the next presidential election, noting that attempts at reversing the outcome of the 2020 election have failed.

“No,” said Biden when asked if he was concerned about a potential attempt to reverse the results of the 2024 contest, in which he is running. Former President Donald Trump is leading the Republican field for the nomination.

“Just like I was not worried that the last guy would be able to overturn the election. They had about 60 lawsuits, they went all the way to the Supreme Court, and every time they lost,” the president said during a news conference with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. “I understand the Constitution.”

Johnson, a Louisiana congressman who is a lawyer specializing in constitutional issues, rallied Republicans around Trump’s legal efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

In 2021, the Supreme Court rejected a handful of cases related to the 2020 election, including disputes from Pennsylvania.

The cases the justices rejected involved election challenges filed by Trump and his allies in five states Biden won: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
